WestWater to Present at the Annual AZ Water Association Conference in May

As water becomes an increasingly valuable asset, various municipalities in Arizona have included water farms in their portfolio of future water supplies. These large farms with extensive water rights were long kept in agricultural production through lease agreements until the water was needed by the city. For many municipalities, however, more attractive water supplies became available before the water farms could be utilized, leading to the sale of the farms.

Viviane Baji of WestWater Research will be participating in the 90thAnnual Arizona Water Association Conference on Friday, May 5th in Phoenix.

Ms. Baji’s presentation, “Water Farms in Arizona- A Wise Investment in Municipal Water Security?”, will discuss her research related to purchased and subsequently sold water farms and the annual returns on water farm investments in Arizona.  The findings of this study will be of noted interest to water policymakers looking to address water shortage concerns in a cost-effective way.
