Featured Transaction

cagrdWestWater has completed a series of water transactions totaling more than $60 million on behalf of the Central Arizona Groundwater Replenishment District (CAGRD) since 2013. The transactions were completed as part of the CAGRD Water Supply Program, currently the largest water acquisition program in the United States.

The transactions included:

  • Purchase of a portfolio of 120,000 Long Term Storage Credits from a private investment group.
  • Multi-year fallowing lease agreement with a Colorado River irrigation district totaling 2,000 acres and approximately 7,000 acre-feet annually.
  • Purchase of 100,000 Long Term Storage Credits from the City of Tucson
  • 100 year lease of effluent and Long Term Storage Credits purchase agreement with Liberty Utilities for approximately 5,000 acre-feet annually.

WestWater serves as transaction manager for the CAGRD Water Supply Program, providing due diligence, negotiation, and deal origination services. The acquisition program is expected to acquire an estimated $100 million in water assets over the next five years with a projected program budget of $1 billion by 2035.
